Types
of sinks

While there are plenty of different styles and designs, there are generally three different types of sinks you can choose for your kitchen:

  • Drop-in sink
Sometimes known as a top-mount sink, drop-in sinks are installed from above and look like they've been "dropped in" into a hole in your bench. They are generally the most flexible when it comes to existing setups. Drop-in sinks often feature small lips around the edge that sit on your benchtop to hold the sinks in place.

  • Undermount sink
An undermount sink is installed below your benchtop and generally sits below its surface, too. Because of this, it can be easier to just wipe crumbs and other debris straight into the sink because there is no lip like there is with a drop-in. Undermount sinks can provide a nice, clean look and help your benchtop material really stand out.

  • Farmhouse sink
A farmhouse sink is generally wider and sits flush with the front of your benchtop. It can provide an extra design element to your kitchen. These are great for cleaning larger pieces of equipment or dishes. Because of their size and weight, these can require some extra support below.

The other thing you want to think about when choosing a sink is how many bowls or basins you want. Generally you can choose from one or two-bowl drop-in and undermount sinks, while most farmhouse sinks are just one large washing area.

Sinks can also come in a range of materials, including aluminium, ceramic porcelain, stainless steel, cast iron and more.

Types of
dishwasher

When you're looking to add a new dishwasher to your kitchen, there are a few things to consider.

One is the size. Dishwashers generally come in three sizes:

  • Full-sized dishwashers are 60cm wide, 82-85cm tall and 60cm deep.

  • Slimline dishwashers are usually 45cm wide, 82-85cm tall and 60cm deep.

  • Compact dishwashers come in different sizes and are great for smaller spaces.

The other is whether you want to buy a freestanding dishwasher or built-in dishwasher. Freestanding dishwashers can be placed just about anywhere they can be connected to the required plumbing. They'll have a working space on the top of them and are more suited to those who don't have a built-in space under their bench. Built-in dishwashers are made to slide in under your benchtop.

Bathroom toilet installations and replacements

Along with home plumbing maintenance and bathroom toilet repairs for your loo, iPLUMB AUSTRALIA can also help you with bathroom toilet installations. We can help you find a style that suits your home and your existing plumbing, or help you with a bigger renovation of your space.

The benefits of replacing your toilet

lacing your toilet can be more cost effective than trying to repair an older model. This is because it can be difficult to find parts for older toilets. And even if they are available, they are often quite expensive and can take weeks to arrive from suppliers. Newer toilets can also save you money going forward as well, as they can be cheaper to maintain and also require less water to use, which can lower your monthly bills.

Types
of toilets

  • Close-coupled toilets
These are perhaps what most people think of when they think of a home toilet. The bowl and the cistern are connected at the back. Both are visible. Close-coupled toilets are usually the easiest to integrate into existing bathroom designs.

  • Back-to-wall toilets
These are similar to close-coupled toilets, but they sit flush against the wall. Some people prefer them for their sleeker look and lack of gap between fixture and wall.

  • Wall-hung toilets
Wall-hung toilets offer a contemporary, space-saving look for your bathroom. The bowl sticks out from the wall, hanging above the ground. The cistern and the bottom support structure are both hidden behind the wall. These can be a better option for a full-scale reno, as they require some extra consideration of plumbing and in-wall space.

  • Wall-faced toilets
Wall-faced toilets are the middle ground between a traditional close-coupled or back-to-wall toilet and a wall-hung toilet. The cistern is hidden in the wall, but the bowl and its support structure are both visible and reach all the way to the ground.

Bathroom
sinks

Your bathroom sink is one of the staples of your home, able to add a touch of style to your WC while also helping keep you and your guests clean and looking and feeling your best.

As with any plumbing, it's always a good idea to let experienced professionals like the team here at iPLUMB AUSTRALIA handle the hard work. For one, you can cause damage during installation unless you know how to take proper precautions. The last thing you want after choosing that perfect piece is for it to get chipped or scratched, or for your wall to get dented

The other major potential issue is incorrect installation that leads to poor drainage. Drainage is vital in the bathroom, as you use your sink to wash your hands and face, brush your teeth, shave and more. Poor drainage can lead to buildup below the surface that causes water and other debris and germs to sit in the bowl and pipes for longer. This can lead to smells emanating from your drain, as well as unwanted germs sticking around.

Inadequate installation can also cause poor water pressure and leaks from tapware and pipes that can cause damage to your walls, floors and cabinetry.

Bathroom
shower

Make sure you can wash away the day with the help of bathroom shower installation or maintenance from iPLUMB AUSTRALIA. Spruce up your existing setup or add a whole new dimension to your personal hygiene.

Depending on the size of your bathroom and sense of style, we can help you choose from a huge range of shower styles, including walk-in showers featuring separate and/or raised bodies as well as curbless showers. These are showers that integrate directly with your floor, creating one long, elegant connection throughout your space. They can be complemented by barriers and doors of different styles, and can be great for bathrooms of various sizes. They are also particularly good options for those with mobility issues who need a bit more room for entry and exit.

Speaking of a helping hand, we also can install grab bars, which can help keep your family members safer when getting in and out of the shower.

In addition to your structure, we can also help you choose which type of showerhead would work best, including:

  • Overhead showers
which are quite common and feature a showerhead on the end of an arm that comes out of the wall.

  • Ceiling mounted showers
sometimes called rainforest showers, that are installed overhead in the ceiling and rain water down onto you.

  • Rail showers
provide extra flexibility, with a head that can slide up and down an arm for varying heights. These can be great for families with taller adults and young children.

  • Hand showers
have a handheld wand or other tool that can be lifted and moved around.

  • Twin showers
combine traditional overhead showers with hand showers and feature one stationary head and one removable hand shower head.

Whether you're moving your shower to a different part of your bathroom during an extensive renovation, want a new showerhead installed or need to fix drainage issues, our team here at iPLUMB AUSTRALIA has you covered.

Laundry tubs, sinks and washing machines

When it comes to plumbing in your laundry, saving space is of the utmost importance. There's no time or room for faulty plumbing or fixtures that leave your laundry looking and smelling gross. We can help you find the right laundry tub and sink fixture to suit your space. Then we can install it, and your washing machine, so you can keep things clean for years to come.

Whether you're working with a relatively open space or need to fit your laundry tub or sink above an existing cabinet or compartment, we can help you maximise your storage space and ensure your plumbing is all sorted so all the muck, dirt and debris you wash drains away.

Washing machine installation

We can install your new washing machine quickly and easily so you can get through load after load of the dirty stuff.

Benefits of professional washing machine installation include:

  • No damage to your space or machine

  • Proper plumbing to ensure free flow and hot and cold water into the machine

  • Clear drainage so water doesn't build up in your machine or flood your floor

Some of our considerations for washing machine installation:

  • Drainage
Whether to a dedicated drain in your floor or into a nearby sink or tub, we'll make sure dirty water can exit your machine efficiently to avoid damage to your equipment, floor and clothing.

  • Stability
Washing machines need to be on level ground to work properly. If not, they could even tip over, causing damage to your space, harming nearby children and pets and presenting a heavy task.

  • Connection
Correctly connecting your machine to the proper hot and cold water outlets is vital to ensure proper water pressure. This ensures your washing cycles get done on time and provide that cleaning power you expect.
